I think video production game has changed!! At least for how we present the ideas and stories to clients!

In the good old days pre 2023’s AI revolution, when I art directed videos, it involved scamping out each scene of the storyboard, writing down specifying camera angles, camera movements, and describing what kind of music and voiceovers, the campaign will have. However, for some clients it’s hard to really visualise.

However, with Gen AI, I feel there’s a better way. What if early on the the conceptual phase we were able to show a bit more than just the static illustrated stills and showcase the look and feel from day one, with movement, music and a flavour for the kind of voiceover.

Here’s a mock whisky commercial that I have made. Yes the quality isn’t for final output, but as a conceptual art directional tool would you find this valuable if you were a client?

It’s truly captivating to observe how each animated scene in this clip is meticulously crafted from a solitary still shot, ingeniously generated through the collaborative efforts of human creativity and an array of AI tools.

From prompting AI to animate under human art direction, to seamlessly integrating music, scripting, and voiceover, every aspect of this conceptual commercial exemplifies the harmonious fusion of human ingenuity with cutting-edge AI technology. As this technology rapidly advances it will be interesting to see at what point the final output will be good enough for consumers.
